Is it wise to contemplate investing in property or off-plan property investment with the current housing market the way it is in the UK? Due to the low rental yields in the UK most property investors are looking to the overseas market.
There has been a great deal of interest in Bulgaria and Turkey, but for those looking further afield for property investment the growing market in the Caribbean and Dominican Republic are becoming very popular. The Caribbean is an emerging market, with some more mature markets in Barbados and The Dominican Republic. Both have their own International Airports with daily flights from both the UK and USA.
Barbados is one of the premier locations in the Caribbean and yet it is only now receiving significant regeneration investment. Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. is the group designated by the government to manage the renewal programme in the main tourism centres.
The climate is tropical with temperatures ranging from 21 to 31 degrees celsius. Throughout the year the weather is warm and sunny. the consistent good weather and extended tourist season means that property rental yields will be high and thus more profit is available for those investing in property.
Off-plan property investment is particularly popular as the prices are significantly cheaper and large profits can be made on completion of the build.
the Dominican Republic occupies the Eastern two thirds of the island Hispaniola. It is siuated between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. The capital Santo Domingo is the New World's oldest capital. Many of the colonial buildings have been carefully restored to retain their original charm.
Most of the investment property in these areas are to 5 star standard, and managed by 5 star hotels. The property developers are offering a wide variety of incentives to investors to purchase these properties, for example "No money down" deals. If considering investing it is wise to look around for the best deals possible.
It must be remembered that these investment properties are exactly that and not to be confused with holiday homes. Although many do offer the purchaser 30 days occupancy of the property.
