Hard landscaping.
Elements include paths, driveways, garden walls and patios.

Header.
Brick or block laid across a wall to bond together its two sides. It also means the exposed end part of a brick.

Herringbone strutting.
The type of cross bracing used between floor joists to increase stiffness.

Hip.
The sharp edge of a roof from ridge to eaves where the two sides meet.

Hipped roof.
A roof with sloping ends instead of vertical ones.

HM Land Registry.
The official organisation that keeps records of properties in England and Wales. Transfer of ownership has to be registered with the Land Registry.

Home Buyers report.
This is an intermediate level survey that is usually offered by the mortgage lender. The report comments on the structural condition of most parts of the property that can be readily accessible, but it does not involve in-depth investigation of the testing of water, drainage or heating systems. The report should pick up most potential problems.

Home contents insurance.
A policy insuring household contents against theft and damage.

Home envirosearch.
A report on detailed flood, subsidence, land contamination history, and other environmental issues.

Housing Association.
A non-profit making body that lets you buy a percentage share of a property, and pay rent on the remainder.
