A flat with its own front door that has access direct to the outside, as opposed to access via a communal hallway.

The outline of a dwelling's external shape and form.

Mortgage.
A loan, usually for house purchase, and for which the house is the security or collateral. It gives to the lender certain rights in the property, including the power to sell if the mortgage payments are not made. ee paid to verify legal title and rights over the property and to register ownership of the property with the Land Registry.

Mortgagee.
The lender.

Mortgagor.
The borrower.

Mortgage Deed.
The document enshrining the conditions of a loan secured on a property. It is also called the legal charge.

Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee.
Compulsory insurance required by a lender for a loan that is above the percentage of the valuation of the property at which the society will normally lend. It is also called a high lending fee.

Mortgage Payment Protection.
This is insurance designed to meet your monthly mortgage payment for a limited period, usually a year, if you are unable to work through illness, disability or redundancy.

Mortgage Protection Policy.
A life insurance policy taken out by the borrower that will pay off the outstanding mortgage loan on the death of the borrower. It is usually taken out with a repayment mortgage.

Mortgage Term.
The period of time over which the mortgage loan is to be repaid. It is commonly 25 years.

MPRN
Your MPRN is the unique identifying number for the gas meter at your property. It's a ten digit number, commonly referred to as an "M" number, and can be found on your gas bill.

Mullion.
The vertical sections of material that divide a window frame into smaller lights.

Multiple Agency.
Several agents market the property, but the one making the sale obtains the commission.
