Offer of Mortgage.
The document issued by a lender to a prospective borrower following approval of the mortgage application. A mortgage offer is not irrevocable if circumstances change.

Office copy entries.
Copies of the entries recorded at the Land Registry proving ownership.

Offset Mortgage.
Your mortgage is linked to your current account, savings accounts, other loans and, in some cases, your credit cards. The interest on your debts is calculated on the total you owe.

Open plan.
A house with no internal walls to separate the living and dining rooms, and the kitchen.

Over-building.
The term applies to building a structure that is inconsistent in size, quality and/ or style with other buildings nearby or has excessively filled the lim- ited amount of land space available. Also known as an 'over development'.

Overhang.
A lock-in period after a fixed, capped or discount mortgage offer has finished.

Overpayments.
Irregular payments, monthly or by a lump sum, made when you can afford to do so.
